Welcome to our website!
Lydia’s Tailoring Centre is a dream developing right before our very eyes.
Right now there is a great need in Nairobi, Kenya for students both young and
old to learn a new trade, particularly in the slums. It is our goal to provide
a Home Arts program that includes sewing and cooking.
Mission Statement
Lydia’s Tailoring Centre Foundation is dedicated to educating youth and adults in sewing and tailoring.
Its
purpose is to strengthen community sustainability by providing hands on
training. The mission of Lydia’s Tailoring Centre is to educate and
develop a trade for persons living in the slums of Nairobi. Lydia’s
Tailoring Centre supports and promotes self-sufficiency and financial
security through developing skills in tailoring.
It is the
intention of our board of directors to share the love of Christ by
being His hands and feet in the slums of Nairobi by improving the
quality of life for persons associated with our school.
The name Lydia comes from the New Testament account found in Acts 16:14: "One of those listening was a woman named Lydia,
a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper
of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message."
